In a day marked by the transfer of immigrants from Benítez Beach and Trampolín to the Port of Ceuta, the deputy secretary of Institutional Regeneration of the Popular Party, Cuca Gamarra, directly pointed to the Government of Spain, stating that its policy “seems to be aimed at turning the autonomous city into a permanent CETI” and pointed to “return” as the only possible solution to an “unsustainable” situation.
An operation, the transfer, which she described as “chaos” and which “is a consequence of the lack of action by the Government of Spain,” whom she accused of “neglect” and of not providing Ceuta with sufficient means to process the necessary files. “Where are those means? Why are they not activated?” the deputy asked after meeting with mayors, spokespeople, and security officials of the PP in the Region of Murcia.
Furthermore, Gamarra also described it as “a mistake” that the Government chose the Port of Ceuta to transfer all immigrants from the beaches. An infrastructure she considers “critical” and therefore “must be protected.”
But the attacks were also directed at the Socialist Party and their vote against the resolution in the Eurochamber yesterday, which was finally approved, in support of Ceuta. Gamarra accused the socialists of “working so that there would be parties opposing it” and wondered “what Pedro Sánchez is playing at. “Europe is being firmer in defending Spain than the president himself,” she argued.
For the deputy secretary of the ‘populars,’ the Executive is “responsible for this situation,” as well as for not providing the State Security Forces and Corps with the means they request to be “more, more agile and able to contain the number of people still in the city.”
“You only have to see the images to be aware that the figure is much higher than 5,000. Not 10,000. It is many more,” she stated.
“The drug traffickers roam freely”
In the field of crime, Gamarra emphasized that insecurity in our country is “objective” and recalled the increase in crimes such as physical violence and tumultuous brawls (10.1%), kidnappings (17%), sexual offenses (4%), or drug trafficking (4%). Figures revealed in the latest crime report presented by the Ministry of the Interior.
Data that have also increased in the Region of Murcia, where the deputy highlighted, especially, the rise of up to 36.6% in serious injuries and the arrival of taxi-pateras or drug speedboats that have appeared this summer in the autonomous community.
“The drug traffickers roam freely in this country under an incompetent government that does not take sufficient measures to stop them,” she said while denouncing the “lack of protection” of the Security Forces to combat it.
A situation marked by the three agents injured in a charge earlier this month, which demands “legal measures and reforms.”
And for this reason, she announced the filing in the Congress of Deputies of a bill so that agents can “respond and protect themselves” against these organizations, which already have in the drug speedboats themselves “a weapon” against the Security Forces.
“Shut your mouth”
The secretary of Organization of the PSOE in the Region of Murcia, María Jesús López, stated that Gamarra “should shut her mouth” when talking about the Security Forces and pointed out that if the PP “had not cut more than 300 agents when they governed,” the Region of Murcia would have “more agents than any other autonomous community.”
Furthermore, López stated that since 2019 a total of 650 agents have been incorporated and that this “is the best way to protect them and strengthen security in the Region.”
“This is neither Ceuta, nor is the Region abandoned,” she said while recalling that it was the Civil Guard itself that assured, in a press conference, that it has sufficient means to face security.
