Protected by Santos Cerdán and shamelessly suggesting she was an envoy of “el one” – that is, number 1, President Pedro Sánchez – Leire Díez, the leader of the PSOE’s sewers according to Judge Pedraz and the UCO, practically gave orders to the actors of the judiciary, politics, and law enforcement with whom she met to obtain material with which to “destabilize judicial cases” against the party, as the magistrate maintains.

Her haughty tone was also recorded, among others, by Francisco Martínez, former Secretary of State for Security in the first legislature of Mariano Rajoy‘s PP in Moncloa, and just now awaiting sentence for, precisely, the alleged sewers of the Popular Party: the espionage of Luis Bárcenas supposedly organized from the Interior Ministry by Jorge Fernández Díaz with Villarejo as the main actor and Martínez allegedly involved. He is facing 15 years in prison.
Leire Díez, in short, met with Martínez on July 15 and 24, 2024, seeking on the one hand support from an apparently symmetrical actor to herself, but on the ‘popular’ side, and on the other, contacts with the ‘Villarejo world’.
Paco Martínez, in any case, did the same as several other interlocutors of Díez in her frantic and imprudent searches for loopholes to undermine institutions: he recorded her. And so the UCO agents were able to listen to the fixer herself trying to sell and buy her merchandise: her sales skills.
What follows is an example of the second meeting between the two. In the first, Díez handed Martínez a “list” of police operations that would have taken place during his years in the Interior Ministry, but Jorge Fernández Díaz’s former number 2 replied that he had no data. What did she offer? “How can we help each other?”, the woman asked him. Díez allegedly offered him the possibility of a pact with the Prosecutor’s Office in exchange for information.
– Leire: All this that is happening is cool because everyone sees themselves in the mirror of a future injustice, which is cool, okay? That said: the intention of all this is to clean up, I am not here for anything other than to clean up. We cannot have people like that in institutions, because today it will be you and tomorrow it will be me, and if we don’t put a stop to them now, we will be making a mistake.

– Paco Martínez: Clean up those houses.
– Leire: That’s right, clean up those houses. At this point in my life, I know that you did not act as a free soul, you had a minister. A Secretary of State has a minister and a minister has a Prime Minister. Even Pedro Sánchez, I doubt he does everything without consulting the people in the party: he wakes up in the morning, has an idea, executes it, and doesn’t care. I have heard that […] María Dolores de Cospedal was aware and complicit in the things that were happening…
But things don’t flow. Martínez, who is actually just listening and recording, insists that he does not have access to certain information, and Leire, who has nevertheless made it clear to him that she has been put “in charge by the PSOE to see what happens”, plays the neutrality card.
– Paco Martínez: With Villarejo I have no relationship, not even through 27 intermediaries, although I know there are those who do, so I don’t know what they will say, but I will try to get you…
– Leire: Paco, there’s one thing I’m very clear about: […] I’m clear that I’m going to find things that neither friends nor strangers will like, but we have to clean up: whoever it is, however it is, wherever it is from. And I swear I don’t care if her name is Begoña Gómez, or Patxi López, to name the neighbor from the village, or Yolanda Díaz, or Rufián…
The audio is part of the summary of the ‘PSOE Sewers Case’. Exactly one year later she is charged for the first time, for bribery and influence peddling, and ten months later Pedraz and the same UCO that Díez was trying to discredit certify that she operated under the mandate of the then number 2 of the PSOE, Santos Cerdán.
