A group of around twenty people broke into the terrace of the bar restaurant Eatalian in Berriozar this Sunday and attacked several soldiers who were watching the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina on television, as reported by Diario de Navarra and confirmed by EL MUNDO through the president of the Association of Troops and Navy of Spain, Marco Antonio Gómez.

The events occurred around 10:30 p.m. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers, dressed in black and with their faces covered, accessed the terrace throwing tables and chairs at the attendees. In addition, they hit several people and some of them carried metal bars.
Among the customers who were in the establishment were soldiers stationed at the nearby Aizoáin barracks, specifically, around a dozen soldiers stationed in the Infantry Regiment ‘América 66’ and who are regulars of the place, according to the same sources.
When the police officers arrived at the scene, the attackers had already left the area. As a result of the attack, several people were injured and had to be taken to a hospital to receive medical assistance.

According to ATME, the soldiers had to be treated in the hospital and have injuries of varying severity, “slings, head injuries…”, Gómez lists. The soldiers then went to the barracks to give statements , accompanied by their commanders, who wanted to be with them at that moment.
The president of ATME expressed his outrage to this media outlet, saying they were attacked “knowing they are soldiers, because everyone knows each other there”.
