The Community of Madrid lifts the suspension of the Vallecas Stadium: the audit concludes "a very significant material and documentary improvement"

Despite this, Tuesday’s match against Espanyol will be played at Butarque. Rayo Vallecano is scheduled to return home on October 10 against Athletic.

The new audit concludes that “the inspected facilities are operational and in adequate conditions for their ordinary functioning,” due to “a very significant material and documentary improvement compared to the situation described in the initial audit.”

The Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports of the Community of Madrid, Mariano de Paco Serrano, signed this afternoon the order to lift the precautionary measure adopted last July 27, which takes immediate effect.

Most of the corrective actions and the commissioning of systems and their legalization, which have led to the lifting of the precautionary measure, have occurred after the decisions made by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports, following a first audit that “detected a situation that compromised the safety and operability of the venue.”

Despite this, this lifting of the suspension does not extinguish everything that happened. The procedure to terminate the concession to Rayo Vallecano Sociedad Anónima Deportiva for serious breach of its obligations continues. The Community of Madrid therefore reiterates the need to carry out a comprehensive renovation project of the Vallecas Stadium, which guarantees a renewed field in the medium term where the Rayo team can play.

The second audit, which has been sent to the College of Engineers, was sent to the Ministry last Saturday at 17:41 by the company Instalaciones Cedial – the same that prepared the first one -, with a signature at 17:33 on the same day. The minister’s resolution comes after the submission today of the mandatory reports by the General Directorate of Sports.

We will have to wait to see Rayo again in Vallecas but it seems that the light at the end of a too long tunnel is already visible.
