The Government Delegation in Ceuta assured this Tuesday that it did not receive any report warning of what was going to happen on July 30, when the massive entry of migrants into the city occurred, and specified that it only received daily information about the increase in arrivals by sea.
The Delegation responded thus to the statements made by the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, in Congress and pointed out that since the end of July it transmitted through established channels the data related to the increase in maritime entries.
However, it emphasized that none of those reports allowed anticipating the magnitude of the events recorded on July 30, a statement that, according to the institution, was also reiterated this Tuesday by the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska.
The Government Delegation has defended that the information it received before that day referred to the progressive increase of entries by sea, but did not contain elements that would allow foreseeing the situation that was later recorded.
Likewise, the institution wanted to make clear that it lacks competencies over the National Intelligence Center (CNI), an agency that, as it recalled, has its own mechanisms and communication channels with the different authorities.
“This Government Delegation did not receive, at any time, any report warning of what was going to happen on July 30,” states the statement released this Tuesday.
The institution insisted that the data that were communicated since the end of July referred exclusively to the daily evolution of entries by sea and were transmitted through the corresponding channels.
