The president of Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas, Julio Martínez Sola, and the CEO of the same airline, Roberto Roselli, have resigned from their positions, while remaining under investigation for the loan received by the airline during the pandemic, as reported by ABC and confirmed to EFE by sources close to the airline’s shareholders.
The new executive president, who will combine the functions of both positions, will be minority shareholder Hugo Castaño, as reported by the aforementioned media, although this appointment must be approved by the Sociedad Española de Participaciones Industriales (SEPI) as it is a “supervised” company after receiving the public loan, the same sources added.
After more than a year of investigation, in December 2025 Martínez Sola and Roselli were arrested – and subsequently released – by UDEF agents, in an operation promoted by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
These resignations come after both acknowledged in separate writings before the Audiencia Nacional that the airline signed a contract with a company belonging to Julio Martínez Martínez in which the payment of “high sums of money (1%)” was assumed for “accompaniment” services in the loan for the airline.
Martínez Sola stated in that document that Plus Ultra paid 1% of the money obtained, amounting to 530,000 euros, through three companies: Análisis Relevante S.L., Voli Analítica S.L. and IOT Domotic Europe, all linked to Martínez Martínez.

The signing of this contract with the company Idella Consulenza, owned by Martínez Martínez, adds the president of Plus Ultra, “directly linked the remuneration to the outcome of the procedure before SEPI,” and stipulated this 1% of the total plus VAT.
The amount paid to the three companies, “along with other in-kind payments recognized as made to Julio Martínez Martínez for the numerous ‘business’ class flights he requested and did not pay for (up to a total of 46), totals 530,000 euros, that is, 1% of the 53 million,” the document states.
“The aforementioned 1% for the rescue was broken down into the following payments made to the different companies controlled by Martínez Martínez: 249,000 euros to Análisis Relevante SL, 98,617.53 euros to Voli Analítica SL, 110,799.47 to IOT Domotic Europe SL,” the document details.
