The underwater team of the Generalitat Firefighters found this Monday an unidentified body in an irrigation ditch in Torrefarrera (Lleida), which they were searching for after being alerted by a person who found a bicycle on a nearby path.

After receiving the alert, the firefighters deployed 10 units to the site including vehicles from the Balaguer, Almenar, and Lleida stations, the underwater team from the Special Actions Group (Grae), the canine unit, and a drone team, they indicate in a statement.
Once in the area, they began an intensive search through the irrigation ditch conduits, interrupting the flow to lower the water level and facilitate the operation, following trails and paths up to the highway and performing dives at specific points.

During one of the dives, several kilometers from the last sighting point, the Firefighters found the body in a siphon of the canal, near the Mater Salvatoris school, on the other side of the highway.
Finally, they secured and inspected the area, and the Mossos d’Esquadra began the extraction tasks of the body and opened an investigation to identify the body and clarify the circumstances of the death, assigning five patrols to it.
