Narrow streets and worn, squat buildings make up the neighborhood of Poblado de Regulares (Ceuta), where the National Police arrested a Spanish woman this Thursday as the alleged perpetrator of the death of a Moroccan man who was in her home and who was the cousin of the alleged aggressor.
According to police sources reported to EFE, the woman allegedly used a knife to end the life of the immigrant, who was living in the house, after having an argument.
Initial data indicate that the fatal victim is a Moroccan man between 30 and 35 years old, although it has not yet been clarified whether he is one of the people who entered Ceuta illegally at the end of July. “I only know that I don’t want to know anything anymore. I’m tired, you know? These days you only hear shouting. I take my medication at night and I don’t want to know more,” says the neighbor of the detainee reluctantly.
The home is a ground-floor apartment whose entrance is located in an alley in the heart of the neighborhood. After collecting testimony from the surrounding neighbors, the National Police have been able to determine that the victim is the woman’s cousin. It is being investigated in what situation the deceased was, who lacked documentation to be legally in the national territory.
Young Moroccan immigrants wander aimlessly through the streets of this humble neighborhood that has been “invaded.” “This neighborhood is already dead,” says one of the neighbors next to some facilities that provide help to immigrant women. From the other side of the slope that divides the area, a Ceuta resident explained that at the moment the incident occurred, the shouts were heard, “knife, knife!” “It woke us up. Things are already happening and we continue to be afraid,” she confesses.

Immediately after the incident, around 07:00 hours, Scientific Police agents went to the home and have been searching for the murder weapon. The duty judge has also appeared.
The man had gone to the home of his relatives and, for reasons still under investigation, a dispute with his cousin occurred. The woman allegedly used a knife during the confrontation, causing injuries that ultimately led to his death. “She was not well, they say the brother is problematic,” says another neighbor at the entrance to the neighborhood who says he knows the family.
The woman, also between 30 and 35 years old like the victim, has been arrested and remains in the custody of the National Police, where she is at the disposal of the investigators while procedures are carried out to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
