Two hikers who used to do the route along the Les Feixades path at least once a year were the first people to see Jonathan Andic after the fatal fall of the founder of Mango, his father Isak. According to their own testimony in court as witnesses, they assisted the eldest son of the clan, who was “blocked, affected, and in shock” when they found him on December 14, 2024, on the Collbató trail.

At first, the Mossos considered it “very relevant” to locate them in their report and explored several ways to find them, according to sources familiar with the investigation. Specifically, they called – without success – the owners of the vehicles that accessed Collbató during the time frame before and after the fatal fall; they contacted those responsible for guided tours of the Salnitre Caves; they checked calls to 112 and even spoke with a climber who was in the area.
After all these efforts and after verifying that a few minutes had passed between the time of the accident and the arrival of the hikers, the investigators did not consider it a priority to find them nor that their testimony could provide anything relevant to the investigation. “If the accident occurred at 12:28, the emergency service call by Mr. Jonathan Andic was made at 12:38 and the nurse’s call took place at 7 minutes and 49 seconds, this implies that about 20 minutes had passed” and, therefore, “their testimony is no longer as important or necessary because they are two indirect witnesses who could neither witness nor provide any information” about what happened, the Mossos concluded after emphasizing that “NO” (in uppercase) is considered relevant their identification, according to the same sources.
That December 14, 2024, one of the hikers even took Jonathan’s phone and made a missed call to his mobile so it would be memorized in case he needed something. An identity that was recorded in the numerous case files but was not linked to the mountaineer. In fact, they never testified before the agents, who did speak with Jonathan’s circle.
The presence of these two men, the first to see the son of the founder of Mango on the trail, was not known after Isak Andic’s death nor as the investigation progressed. However, last June the investigating judge summoned them to testify as witnesses and they were located. One of them picked up the summons hours before his appearance in Martorell and the other had received it a few days earlier. In court, they explained having found Jonathan “in shock,” whom they even accompanied to the parking lot, where the firefighters arrived.
The case for Isak Andic’s death remains open and it will not be until next month or even October when the remaining testimonies in the instruction phase are resumed. The two mountain unit officers, the CEO of Mango, Toni Ruiz, a company secretary, and its cybersecurity manager still have to testify at the old Martorell courts. It also remains to be seen what happens with the interpreter who collaborated with the therapist and the reconstruction of the fall on the same Collbató trail is pending.
