A fire declared past midnight in the front part of a warehouse in the Polígono Industrial del Tarajal, where many of the migrants who entered Ceuta illegally on July 30 and 31 remain, has burned 42 of the shacks they had built to spend the night.
According to sources from the Fire Extinguishing Service reported to Efe, the fire started near midnight in one of the settlements located in the industrial warehouses of this area, and it was the neighbors themselves who alerted the emergency service.
Firefighters went to the area as well as units of the National Police, the Local Police, and the Armed Forces due to the magnitude of the flames.
The officers had to evacuate the migrants sleeping nearby to prevent them from being affected by the smoke, and there were no injuries.
The fire was located in the front part of the warehouses, where a camp is set up in which migrants shelter with wood, cardboard, and other types of materials.
Firefighters have explained that the fire did not cause damage to the structures of the warehouses and the origin could be one of the campfires in the camp, although it is under investigation.
The fire burned the shacks as well as the plastics and all kinds of waste around them.

Although the largest, the El Tarajal fire was not the only one that occurred yesterday. Ceuta Firefighters described the early hours of this Friday as a “terrible night,” during which, in addition to intervening in the Tarajal settlements, they had to go out to extinguish flames in different parts of the city, which left eight vehicles and four containers burned, reports Europa Press.
Specifically, during the early hours, fires also occurred in eight vehicles, located on Francisco Javier Sauquillo street, Phase 2 of the Polígono, next to the El Conertín nursery, the IES Abyla parking lot, and the city center area.
Firefighters also intervened due to the fire of four containers, two of them in Los Rosales and two others in the Juan Carlos I neighborhood.
The authorities have not yet reported the authorship or those responsible attributed to all these fires recorded during the early hours.
These incidents are added to another fire declared during Thursday afternoon, around 6:00 p.m., near the Trampolín beach, close to the Temporary Stay Center for Immigrants (CETI), in a wooded area.
This last fire was smaller in scale and was controlled in a few minutes. As in the case of the fire in the Tarajal warehouses, the authorities have not yet reported the authorship attributed to this last fire.
