The investigation, carried out by Homicide Group V, has allowed the reconstruction of the events and confirmed that the attack was carefully planned. The assailant knew where the engineer lived and went to his home armed with pepper spray and a kitchen knife,
According to police investigations, the killer rang the doorbell of the home located on Cirauqui Street, in one of the most exclusive residential areas north of Madrid. The victim, who knew the man on the other side of the door, opened it without suspecting the fatal outcome.
As soon as he entered the home, the assailant sprayed his face with pepper spray and inflicted a total of 14 stab wounds, eleven of them to the front of the body and three to the back. Some wounds were very deep, evidencing the extreme violence of the attack. After the crime, he abandoned the knife next to the body and fled in a red vehicle, partially concealing his identity with a cap and sunglasses.

The building’s residents alerted emergency services after hearing cries for help from inside the home and perceiving a strong smell of gas. Madrid City Council Firefighters accessed the apartment through a window and found the victim lying on the kitchen floor, in a large pool of blood. Samur-Civil Protection paramedics could only certify his death.
The high concentration of pepper spray forced the building to be ventilated before forensic police officers could begin the visual inspection. From the outset, the absence of signs of forced entry and the fact that no valuable objects were missing led investigators to focus their suspicions on someone from the victim’s close circle.
After leaving Madrid, the killer drove nearly one hundred kilometers to La Adrada, in the province of Ávila, where his wife was. According to the police reconstruction, he spent several hours with her before leaving and committing suicide by throwing himself off a cliff in the area known as La Charca de la Hoya.
Sources close to the investigation have indicated that the couple was going through a separation process initiated by the woman. According to police investigations, she and the victim met in a gym located in the Las Tablas urbanization, very close to the place where the murder occurred. The assailant’s obsession with an alleged romantic relationship between them would have been the trigger for the crime.
Facundo, who had Spanish and Argentine nationality, had lived alone in the property for several years and had no police record.
