The Autonomous City of Ceuta has confirmed this Thursday a case of a Moroccan minor, one of those who entered illegally on July 30 and 31, who has been diagnosed with monkeypox.
According to sources from the regional government, responsible for the guardianship of these children, the minor is isolated in one of the reception centers that have had to be set up to respond to the migration contingency.
The sources have determined that the minor is 13 years old and entered the city during the massive entry at the end of July. The diagnosis was confirmed this very afternoon-
Monkeypox (or mpox) is an infectious and zoonotic disease caused by a virus that is mainly transmitted through close physical contact.
The main symptoms are swollen lymph nodes (characteristic compared to other types of pox), headache, muscle pain, and fatigue, as well as rash or skin eruption that evolves into spots, pus-filled blisters, and scabs, lasting between two and four weeks.
