The situation of defenselessness of the military in Ceuta is a palpable fact, demonstrated by the number of assaults they have suffered since 70,000 immigrants swam across from Morocco through the Tarajal border, in an attempt to violate Spanish territorial integrity. So far, according to EL MUNDO, five soldiers were “seriously injured,” while a larger number have minor injuries.
But among those whose condition was concerning, two of them were transferred to the Gómez Ulla Central Defense Hospital in Madrid, after being victims of assaults by immigrants during their deployment in Ceuta. As this newspaper has confirmed, one of the soldiers was assaulted on September 12 and as a result of the injuries, has a fractured fibula for which he was treated in the operating room, as well as a dislocated shoulder. The other soldier was also awaiting surgery, which will take place this Thursday, for a knee fracture.
The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, has taken an interest in their condition and visited them this Thursday. The Ministry has expressed “its full support” to all the injured “while they carry out their work.” “Our soldiers always professional, close, and committed to Ceuta,” she stated through her account on the social network X.
Several soldiers have been victims of assaults by immigrants who arrived in the autonomous city at the end of July. Professional associations have repeatedly asked the Government to allow the use of “proportionate” force given their situation of “lack of protection”.
