The secretary general of the PP, Miguel Tellado, denounced this Tuesday a “strategy” by the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, to “attack” the King and “discredit the institutions” of Spain. Moreover, he pointed out that if he has to choose “he is with Mohamed VI and not with Felipe VI”.

This Monday, Sánchez stated that there are “sufficient arguments and reasons” for the King to visit the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla, something he has not done since he ascended the throne in 2014, highlighting that “that visit will be made” when the conditions are right, even adding that he has been “reigning for 20 years”.
In an interview on Telecinco, which Europa Press has reported, Tellado indicated that “it is evident that Sánchez, if he has to choose, is with Mohamed VI and not with Felipe VI.” “We believe that the statements made yesterday by the president of the Government are not acceptable from a serious leader, from a president of the Government who prides himself on such a title,” he emphasized.
The number two of the PP considers that Sánchez’s statements about the King in his interview on the Ser channel are not “casual” and recalled the words of the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, after he accused the King of crossing a “red line” because of his “offensive” photograph with the communicator Javier Negre.
“It is part of a strategy to attack the head of state and to discredit the institutions of our country. I believe that yesterday Pedro Sánchez was not mistaken and I believe he did what he wanted to do, said what he wanted to say. And certainly shows he is not up to the position he holds,” he asserted.
At this point, the secretary general of the PP explained that the head of state “does what the Government allows him” and added that the information they know from various media indicates that “the Government of Spain did not let the head of state go to visit Ceuta”.

The PP leader pointed out that, a month later, it is still not acting, since there is no “action worthy of a Government that defends the territorial integrity of its country.” “I believe we are in a frankly lamentable situation that proves that in Spain we need elections as soon as possible so that Spain can have a government that attends to the needs of this nation,” he stated.
After Sánchez highlighted Morocco’s cooperation, Tellado criticized the “surrender” of the president of the Government to Morocco and that, in his opinion, has been happening repeatedly over the last years.
“It is evident that Morocco does not respect the Government of Spain and it is evident that the Government of Spain does not make the territorial integrity of our country and national security respected,” he said, to emphasize that this “is not a migratory crisis” but rather “has been an attempt to invade national territory”.
According to Tellado, the reality is that they have a president of the Government “tied hand and foot” and “unable to take charge of the situation they themselves have created by their own incompetence.” “No one is at the wheel in the Government of Spain. Absolutely no one,” he concluded.
