Joan Capdevila, champion of the Eurocup and the World Cup with the Spanish national team, cannot enter United States to attend the World Cup final because ten years ago he attended a charity match in Iran. “I need help, my ESTA has been denied,” the player posted on his social media, mentioning the profile of Donald Trump, President of the United States.
“I was just told that I can’t travel to the final with my children because my ESTA was denied. Can anyone help me with this? You don’t know how much I was looking forward to being there with all my teammates from 2010 and with this team to cheer them on. I can’t believe they won’t let me enter the USA… and miss a moment like this with my children who love football so much… If anyone knows how to solve this, I will be forever grateful,” he posted.
The footballer, who is now the institutional representative of Espanyol, played a charity match with other LaLiga legends in Tehran on August 25, 2016, almost a decade ago.
“I can’t enter the country, my ESTA was denied because 10 years ago I played a regular match, LaLiga Legends, in Iran, and apparently if you have been there you cannot enter the United States,” he said on Cope’s Partidazo.
