The forest fire that has ravaged the center of the Iberian Peninsula has hit Ávila, Guadalajara, and Madrid particularly hard. Precisely to alleviate the severe damage caused by the fire after weeks of uncertainty, Isabel Díaz Ayuso has announced that Leo Messi has donated 80,000 euros intended for the reconstruction of the Western Sierra of Madrid, a gesture that the leader has publicly applauded.

Through a message posted on the social network X, the president of Madrid praised this donation and expressed her wish to thank the Argentine star in person: “Leo Messi has donated €80,000 for the reconstruction of the Western Sierra of Madrid. I want to thank him and tell him that Madrilenians hope to receive him soon to give him the applause he deserves”, she said.
The Inter Miami player and finalist of the last World Cup has been a prominent figure in sports over the last two decades, something that Spain is especially aware of. For this reason, this very year he will receive from the hands of the Royal Family the Princess of Asturias Award for Sports 2026.
During the announcement of the granting of this distinction, the jury recognized “his dazzling talent, his exceptional sports career, and his formidable and ongoing solidarity work to promote access to education and healthcare for the most disadvantaged children.”
Now, the Argentine star once again demonstrates his social commitment, this time with the country where he grew up and developed as a footballer by donating to what is considered the largest forest fire in the history of Spain.
