This is how harshly the spokesperson for the PSOE in the Madrid Assembly, Mar Espinar, spoke this Friday regarding the purchase of the penthouse that has unleashed one of the biggest crises of Ayuso’s government in all her years as president.
The socialist spokesperson, in statements made at the same building where the controversial penthouse is located, at Paseo General Martínez Campos, 35, emphasized that putting the apartment where the president currently lives with her boyfriend up for sale “is not a coincidence, it is stubbornness.” She also assured that her party has requested to visit the purchased penthouse.
The PSOE has requested the full file of this purchase, as has the main opposition party, Más Madrid, which went a step further by announcing it will file a criminal complaint against the Community of Madrid for embezzlement.
“Más Madrid has decided to file a complaint over the penthouse that the Community of Madrid bought for the use and enjoyment of Isabel Díaz Ayuso. The facts clearly show that what they have told us is a lie,” said Hugo Martínez Abarca, Más Madrid deputy and legal officer.
“We know that first Isabel Díaz Ayuso and Alberto González Amador were visiting apartments for themselves and a chief of staff from the Presidency of the Community of Madrid was negotiating for them. Then they try to sell their penthouse and at the same time try to buy a penthouse with money from the Community of Madrid,” he added.
“At minimum, there is a crime of embezzlement. Más Madrid’s legal services are already preparing it and we will file it as soon as it is ready,” Martínez said.
To worsen the political crisis, this same Friday it was also revealed, in information advanced by El País, that another apartment of Alberto González Amador, a penthouse located above the residence he has already put up for sale, is also for sale. The price, according to the real estate website Gilmar, is 1,630,000 euros, it has 206 square meters and a 30 m2 terrace.
It should be remembered that this Thursday, after the purchase of the Martínez Campos penthouse became known, the Community surprisingly announced it would sell the penthouse to help the victims of the fires.
