The migrants from Ceuta extend the settlement from Trampolín beach to Benítez

Moroccan migrants have extended their settlement on the coast of Ceuta to Benítez beach, located next to Trampolín beach, both places sheltering thousands of people who entered illegally on July 30 and 31.

According to what EFE was able to verify this Saturday, the Moroccans have installed more than a hundred shacks around Benítez beach, located next to the city’s desalination plant.

They have brought reeds, wood, and cardboard for the small constructions where they are living.

The neighbors in the area have already expressed their complaints about the presence of these people.

Last Friday, the City president, Juan Vivas (PP), estimated that 4,500 migrants are settled on Trampolín beach.

They request urgent reinforcement of port police

The CCOO union has requested the Port Authority of Ceuta to submit a request to State Ports for an “urgent reinforcement” of the Port Police due to the installation of a new camp to accommodate migrants near the Poniente dock.

In a statement, the union demands an “immediate reinforcement” of the staff due to the “increase in the level of port protection” following the installation of this new temporary immigrant settlement in two areas of the dock.

The union considers it “essential” to increase the number of personnel, at least by an amount equivalent to the reinforcement deployed during the OPE (Operation Strait Crossing) to guarantee the security of the facilities, personnel, and port users.

Likewise, CCOO demands the “urgent replacement” of the withdrawn self-protection and defense equipment, and the convening of the State Commission of Port Police to address with the Ministry of the Interior an adequate provision according to the risks currently faced by the agents.

The request has been filed with State Ports by Pedro Suárez, general secretary of the Sea Sector, and Soraya Díaz Soldán, general secretary of the Intercenters-Ports CCOO Union Section, also supported and participated in by the CCOO Union Section of the Port Authority of Ceuta.

The union considers that a “greater demand in security matters must necessarily be accompanied by more personnel and better resources.”
