The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, will finally appear next week in the Senate to give explanations about the crisis in Ceuta, although four days after the formal request made by the PP. In the party of Alberto Núñez Feijóo they attribute it to their “pressures” after the Government announced that both she and her colleagues Fernando Grande-Marlaska (Interior) and José Manuel Albares (Foreign Affairs) would only go to the Congress.
According to the popular party, Robles “will have to provide the details of the mission entrusted to the Armed Forces within the framework of the crisis caused by the avalanche of 72,000 immigrants at the Ceuta border”.
“The PP will continue working so that Marlaska and Albares come out of their democratic rebellion, stop belittling the Senate and fulfill their responsibility by appearing in the commissions convened extraordinarily in the face of a national emergency situation,” adds the majority party in the Upper Chamber.
Furthermore, they explain that Robles sent a letter to the president of the Senate, Pedro Rollán, showing “her willingness to attend,” to which they add that “it is her obligation because the Government cannot choose before whom it is accountable, nor appear selectively”.
