The Government had to respond this Tuesday to the statements of Pedro Sánchez who, in an interview on Cadena Ser, stated that the King has not visited Ceuta for 20 years. “It was not a reproach, it was stating a fact,” excused the president the spokesperson minister, Elma Saiz.

From La Moncloa they continue without specifying when that trip of Felipe VI to the autonomous city will take place, which would likely cause a diplomatic conflict with Morocco, and they limit themselves to concluding: “That visit will take place”.
In response to the media, the spokesperson of the central Government stated that it has been 20 years since the last visit of the Emeritus King to Ceuta and that since then “there have been different governments of the PP and PSOE”.
Furthermore, she said she does not know what Sánchez and Don Felipe discussed in the office they held this Monday afternoon for approximately three hours. Both Moncloa and Zarzuela confirmed that it was “scheduled before the summer” and framed it as one of the meetings they regularly hold.
The Government also emphasizes that relations with the Royal House are “good”.
