The National Police have arrested in Ceuta an unaccompanied minor migrant (mena in the sector’s technical jargon) aged 17 and of Maghreb ethnicity for allegedly sexually assaulting two boys and two girls aged between 10 and 11 inside one of the centers set up in the El Príncipe neighborhood, where they were all housed.
The events are said to have taken place in the first two weeks after the border jump of about 80,000 people on July 30 and 31, in one of the centers set up by the autonomous city itself for the stay of ‘menas’, the Piniers Center, in the El Príncipe neighborhood.
It is the Family and Women’s Care Unit (UFAM) of the Ceuta Police that leads the investigation, reported by the newspaper Abc limited to three victims, and confirmed by this newspaper, whose sources mention one more assaulted, up to four.
The number, police sources point out, is nevertheless open. It is believed that the young man could have assaulted more minors in the complete chaos that the city of Ceuta has been immersed in for more than a month now, with nearly 9,000 migrants in deplorable conditions and law enforcement unable to control them.

According to police sources, the events were discovered by the migrants themselves, who, in addition to reporting it to law enforcement, assaulted the young man until the Police arrived and took him into custody.
The General Council of the Judiciary has commissioned reinforcements in the Gender Violence courts of Ceuta due to the increase in cases reaching the courts in recent weeks, and the Prosecutor’s Office has raised its voice about this increase, denounced from the beginning by the Ceuta mayor-president, Juan Jesús Vivas.
