The Council of Ministers will approve this Tuesday an emergency package of 165 million euros for Ceuta, which will be added to the expansion that the Socioeconomic Integral Development Plan for the autonomous city will have in the medium term. This financial allocation – advanced by El País and confirmed to EL MUNDO by government sources – will be aimed at revitalizing the local economy and strengthening public services, affected after the massive entry of 72,000 immigrants on July 30, of whom about 5,000 adults and 1,500 children still remain there.
According to official information, the investment that the Government will greenlight on Tuesday is to address the emergency of the moment and is not part of the expansion of the Socioeconomic Integral Development Plan of Ceuta, promoted by the central and autonomous administrations since 2022. This plan has already mobilized 180 million euros and the first vice president and Minister of Economy, Carlos Cuerpo, announced this week during his visit to the autonomous city that it will be expanded.
Unlike that plan, whose expansion is being negotiated with social agents and sector representatives in Ceuta, the package to be approved on Tuesday consists of emergency measures, which will mean a direct injection into Ceuta’s economy of 80 million euros in the next four months, while another 70 million are prepared to be spent in 2027, reports Efe. In this way, the direct economic injection thus reaches 150 million euros in a year and a half.

Also, 15 million will be allocated to revitalize commerce and tourism, which have collapsed this August, and there will be 35 million in aid to SMEs and self-employed workers. Additionally, the Government will also dedicate 15 million to strengthen education, health, and justice in the autonomous city.
Cuerpo, during his visit to Ceuta this week, met with affected sectors and committed to launching shock measures to support the productive fabric as quickly as possible. He also held a meeting with the president of the autonomous city, Juan Jesús Vivas.
